There is no recipe for success but an attitude

Por: Jairo Barahona Garita
I treasure these words from professors and mentors in my college days: “You have to be prepared for change and learn how to learn… Tomorrow we will no longer be talking about C (programming language), but about something else new”.

They are an excellent reference of a challenging and tenacious attitude, as well as determinant for the engineering and business world.

At that time everything was new and there was a whole world to explore and learn, but before finishing my degree and with a lot of expectation, I already knew that this was not going to change. Although unfortunately some people believe that when they get a degree, they will get a monotonous and unchallenging job, fortunately there are many people who get an exciting profession. Today, I believe that the difference lies in the head of each person and not in the career or trade that he or she performs.

Every day there are new challenges, new experiences, and great opportunities to explore the world. Visualizing goals and objectives through work is one of my favorite practices, especially if I do it with people who share this same winning mentality. And I am not only referring to my co-workers, but to all the people I interact with: colleagues, consultants, clients, suppliers, friends. In short, all the people capable of appreciating the essence of being a professional and a visionary entrepreneur.

Today I thank all of them for allowing us to project ourselves as successful people.

Here are some of the common characteristics that we can observe in their attitude in order to be able to relate to more people who have:

  • Flexibility
  • Agility
  • Optimism
  • Tenacity
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Multidisciplinarity
  • Commitment
  • Vision for the future
